Hamilton, MA, is a quaint town in the eastern portion of Essex County. Originally, a part of its neighboring town, Ipswich, called Hamlet, the town separated in 1793 and named itself after Alexander Hamilton. The town has a rich equestrian history that remains prominent throughout the town, thanks to Hamilton’s preservation efforts, and town institutions like the Myopia Hunt Club and its Sunday polo matches.

Located 31 miles north of Boston, Hamilton has easy access to the Atlantic shoreline and a deeply intertwined community with the neighboring town of Wenham. From a shared school system to a commuter rail station, the combined charm of the towns made them recipients of the “Best Places to Live in Massachusetts” from Boston Magazine in 2010.

The soul of Hamilton lies in its commitment to its roots as an equestrian epicenter and the natural land. The town takes great effort to preserve its ecosystem through several protected outdoor areas. Hamilton has also been a leader in environmental stewardship, among the first towns in Massachusetts to require composting.
