With a fascinating and at times sordid history, the use of cannabis dates back to prehistoric times. The United States banned the use of cannabis in the early 1930s, but today it has evolved into a partially legalized, multi-billion dollar industry. Current market estimates forecast that the Massachusetts medical marijuana market will grow to nearly $80 million in 2016 and possibly over $1 billion at full maturity.
James Kurnick, M.D., Founder and CEO of MassMedicum, one of the first 15 companies to receive a provisional state license to operate a Registered Marijuana Dispensary, will provide an overview of historical developments and will discuss why the principles applied to conventional medicine should be followed for cannabis-based therapeutics.
