Orange Line Shutdown and GLX Closure
Friday, August 19 – September 18, 2022
The 30-day Orange Line shutdown (9 PM, August 19 – September 18) will overlap with Green Line diversions. Find out what this means for your travel and download the Rider’s Guide to Planning Ahead.
As part of the Building a Better T program, addressing priority FTA directives and accelerating several projects—including safety, hiring, and infrastructure improvements—that will make the T better and more reliable for riders.

The 30-day Orange Line shutdown will overlap with diversions on the Green Line E Branch and the Green Line Union Branch. The Commuter Rail may be the best option for many Orange Line riders during this shutdown. Riders can simply show their CharlieCard or CharlieTicket to conductors to ride the Commuter Rail in Zones 1A, 1 and 2 at no charge.
