Learn about housing needs in Salem and guide a new affordable housing policy for the City
Join the City of Salem and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) for a free public housing forum. Participants will learn about the need for housing in Salem and how housing supply impacts prices and rents, strategies that can help create more affordable housing, and information about inclusionary zoning, a tool municipalities can utilize to encourage the creation of affordable units.
The event starts with welcoming remarks from Mayor Kim Driscoll and an open house where guests can view posters and learn more about housing policy. After the poster session there will be a brief presentation, followed by small group meetings to discuss specific aspects of inclusionary zoning and how it might apply to Salem.
This event is free and open to all. Registration is helpful but not required; to sign up in advance, please click here.
