Sumner Tunnel Weekend Closures Start This Weekend
Advisory: Boston: Sumner Tunnel Weekend Closures Start This Weekend Tunnel closed to traffic from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. Monday
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing construction operations for the Sumner Tunnel Centennial Restoration Project, as phase 1 of construction begins this weekend. This work will result in weekend closures of the Sumner Tunnel for 36 weekends between June 2022 and May 2023, (excluding holiday weekends.)
